2025 ISWA Awards
Each year ISWA honours excellent efforts and creative ideas that increase public awareness and promote sustainable waste management. Each award is chosen by a panel of volunteers and leaders within the ISWA community and honoured at the ISWA World Congress Closing Ceremony.
This year’s theme is ‘Re-imagine waste
“Towards a wasteless future or a wasteful planet?”‘

Submissions for the 2025 ISWA Video Award are now closed. Keep an eye out for the announcement of winners!
1st place winner will receive 750 euros cash + ticket to World Congress + free one-year membership.
2nd place winner will receive 250 euros cash + free one-year membership.
3rd place winner will win a free one-year membership.

The Plastic Cup
The ISWA Publication Award has been designed to honour either a publication, article or book, which is deemed to be exceptional in its contribution to the field of Solid Waste Management.
Submissions for the 2025 ISWA Publication Award are now closed. Keep an eye out for the announcement of winners!
The first-place winner will receive a ticket to the 2025 ISWA World Congress and have their article published in ISWA’s Scientific Journal, Waste Management & Research.

2024 Publication Award Winner
The 2024 ISWA Publication Award winner is “Learning from the past to plan for the future: An historical review of the evolution of waste and resource management 1970–2020 and reflections on priorities 2020–2030 – The perspective of an involved witness” by David C. Wilson

The ISWA Communication Award has been designed to honour excellent waste communication campaigns that increase public awareness and promote sustainable waste management.

First place winner will be awarded:
- A ticket to the 2025 ISWA World Congress
- A symbolic award, delivered at the ISWA World Congress.
- The right to use a special ISWA commemorative logo.
- The possibility to present the awarded campaign at the ISWA World Congress.
